Partnership with Zukunft für TSHUMBE

Supporting Pediatric and Maternity Care in the Democratic Republic of Congo

Espoir is entering a collaboration with Zukunft für Tshumbe, a Tyrolean non-profit organization supporting vulnerable women and children in the Democratic Republic of Congo. In the town of Tshumbe, a new hospital is currently being built. This hospital will consist of a pediatric ward and a maternity ward, reflecting the most urgent local healthcare needs.

Espoir hopes to contribute to these two areas in the future, as they align closely with our intention to support medical care for mothers and children. We are grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with Zukunft für Tshumbe and to learn more about the local context and needs. We hope that, step by step and within our possibilities, we may contribute to a positive and sustainable development for the community. Our wish is simply to be of meaningful support wherever it becomes possible.

Supporting Access to Education in Uganda

Partnering with Aggie’s Foundation to help children receive primary schooling.

Amount donated: 140€

This year, Espoir contributed €140 to Give Children a Chance, a fundraising initiative by Aggie’s Foundation. Their work provides access to primary education for children in Uganda, including English classes and essential school materials.

Thanks to ongoing support, the foundation has already enabled 600 children to attend school and helped build three new classrooms. This year’s goal is to reach 700 children and even small contributions can create real change: just €7 supports one child for an entire year.

We are grateful to play a small part in this important work and encourage anyone interested to learn more through the foundation’s website and fundraiser links below.

Kumi Hospital, Uganda

Medical support for a young mother

Amount donated: 311€

We recently supported a young mother in a difficult situation involving obstetric violence and a traumatic birth experience. Nancha Christine is 18 years old and gave birth to her first child at Kumi Hospital. The baby was in a transverse breech position, requiring an emergency C-section. During the procedure, she experienced severe postpartum bleeding which made a second hysterectomy necessary shortly afterward. She was unable to afford the medical care she needed, so we covered the costs. In such contexts young women in central Africa often have no autonomy and are frequently left behind by social structures. Supporting them in situations like this gives them a chance to regain agency over their own lives.
